Phantom cow of old hwy 66

Phantom cow of old hwy 66 Strikes again!

Chapter One

This story of Phantom cow is true to the best of the teller’s recollection. It may not appear to be so at times to some who just have no Phantom cow imagination. To protect the identities of our characters we have changed all names and some faces and even locations and especially the Phantom cow’s.

While this story is really happening in modern times the town of Hill Hollering Knob’s surroundings, the buildings, automobiles, horse and buggies, along with their way of life is dating back to the early 1800’s. It is a town having a population of 3000 locals who do not like new comers, (except readers like you, who are always welcome) but especially not the Phantom cow. The town is well known for having an old but beautiful two lane junction lined on both sides with towering Eucalyptus trees allowing very little sunlight to enter; called Old Hwy 66, and it is leading in and out of town along side the Tuolumne River. It is in this beautiful covered junction the Phantom cow bellows every night and does the other thing she is known for.

News Flash! From the Hill Hollering Knob Newspaper!

The Phantom cow of old Hwy 66 has jumped in front of another newly restored Ford pickup truck, causing the driver to swerve off the road and wrap their newly restored Ford pickup truck around a tree. So far to date; 12 Million and 41 Thousand dollars in damages has been done to newly restored Ford pickup trucks by the Phantom cow.

The Insurance companies have band together to offer a one Million Dollar Rewards to the person bringing the Phantom cow of old hwy 66 in alive or dead. Preferably fresh and alive so she can stand trial before the Hill Hollering Knob’s officials make Bar B Q hamburgers out of her at their annual "Bar B Q the Beef" Festival.

Or one hundred thousand-dollar rewards if anyone can just get her to jump in front of a Chevy pickup once in a while.
